Pigeon Forge Tennessee is honoring our nation’s veterans with an all-new special event – the Pigeon Forge Salute to Veterans Parade.

The parade will officially launch this year’s Winterfest.

The Pigeon Forge Salute to Veterans Parade is scheduled for November 8.  It will start toward the south end of the city and end at Patriot Park. Following the parade, visitors can enjoy patriotic speeches, entertainment and the ceremonial flipping of the switch that illuminates the city’s 5 million Winterfest lights.  Winterfest continues through February 12, 2012.

Many-Bears Grinder, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs, will be the Grand Marshall of the parade and will also deliver the keynote address at Patriot Park.

The Veterans Parade will start at 4:30m pm at Jehu Street and proceed north to Patriot Park.  With around 30 organizations set to march in the parade, it should last around an hour.

Activities at Patriot Park will include a kid’s play area, food vendors, musical entertainment and the illumination of Winterfest lights, which will take place between 7:30 and 8:00pm.
