"Didn't have our reservation"
February, 2015
We arrived early, thank goodness. They didn't have our reservation so we got downgraded on our cabin. We had to take a smaller one but that was ok. The manager, Charlie, was a little rude to us a check in saying we should have called to verify our reservation. He said this happens to everyone that uses this site. On check out we didn't know how to check out Bc the office was closed so we had to call him again. He was rude on the phone and hung up on my while I was speaking. We won't be staying with them in the future.

Tip: Be prepared to figure things out on your own and don't ask questions Bc it completely inconveniences the manager.

"Beautiful place"

The lodging is amazing. Be sure to ask for a second floor condo. The first floor can get rather noisy with people walking above you or they have kids who run around. The condo rooms were spacious and beautifully designed. The pool area is sweet as well. The facility offers zip lining too.

We stayed for a week at this wonderful Resort. The best-selling point for us was the beautiful pool and lights at night. We stayed in Cabin 165 and the kids also enjoyed the hot tub. It is about 25 minutes from Gatlinburg which was a great way to spend our evenings. We also rode horses, ziplined and swam in Little Pigeon River in the Smokey Mountains which was all about 15 min down Hwy 321.

"Great Cabin and great experience"

This is an update on my last post as I said I would. Cabin 169 is great. You can tell it has been updated and the attention to details was welcoming. We enjoyed the hot tub on the back porch however only half the jets were working. The pool is great but as a previous reviewer stated needs some attention (resurfacing).. thankfully the large hot tub is warmer this year. Also, the fire pit appears to be working again. I also noticed that there are they have extended hours for the small fitness center. Again Erin is always welcoming and helpful. We love White Oaks and look forward to our next visit.

"Great location for a group trip"

I am a Global Connections member, and organized this trip for a large group of friends (26 in all). We stayed in a combination of a condo and 2 and 3 bedroom cabins. Overall, an awesome stay, and I would certainly return here if I was ever visiting the Smoky Mountains again. The Welcome Center staff is very kind and helpful, but they operate on limited hours, so be forewarned if you are used to having front desk staff available at your beck and call when you travel. The check-in process was easy, and our keys were waiting for us in a secure lockbox. You are asked to do an inventory of towels and dishware upon arrival. My family was in a second floor condo, and it was spacious and well-equipped. Everything was in good working order. The beds were comfortable, linens clean, and pillows plentiful. My kids enjoyed the upstairs loft. However, despite adequate maintenance, the condo units are starting to show their age and appear somewhat dated, especially when compared to the pristine appearance of the cabins. This is not due to neglect, but simply age. All properties need a refresh eventually, and I think the condos are probably due for renovation in the next few years to bring them up to the same standards as the cabins, which are quite beautiful. They have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, etc. The cabins also have huge bathrooms with double sinks, and the 2-bedroom cabins have a pool table in the loft area, which provided hours of fun. Each cabin also has its own hot tub on a screened in back porch, wheras the condo building shares a hot tub on a cute outdoor patio with benches, a fire pit, and BBQ grill. The pool area was well-maintained, and kids enjoyed thoroughly. Wish the spa tub near the pool was also heated, but on a hot day, the cooler temperature was also pleasant. Workout area is air-conditioned and roomy, but only one of the two machines was in working condition. It would be lovely to have it stocked with water or a water cooler. My only real complaint is that many of the dishes in our units were not clean when we arrived, and needed to be rewashed before use. The property asks guests to run a dishwasher load before checking out, but housekeeping staff should not depend on this being done properly, and really should be inspecting all dishes for cleanliness before putting them in the drawers. By the same token, although all cains were neat and tidy upon arrival, one kitchen had a layer of dust covering all the counters, implying that although it may have been thoroughly cleaned after the last guest's departure, it was not cleaned immediately prior to our arrival. No one likes to start their vacation by cleaning a kitchen, so I would kindly recommend that the cleaning scheduled be adjusted to ensure that unoccupied units get a once over before new guests arrive. All things considered, the above complaint is easily remedied, and did not seriously detract from our enjoyment of the vacation. The location can't be beat, and we were a short drive from the national park, downtown Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, rafting on the Pigeon River, and Dollywood. There is even ziplining on site, although we did not partake this time. I would definitely recommend White Oak for a vacation of families and friends.

"Close to civilization but secluded environment "

We absolutely loved our cabin. We had 2 large bedrooms, a pool table and a hot tub. The 2 bedrooms sleep up to 6 which is great however instead of having a pullout couch the 5th and 6th guests have to sleep on an air mattress. They do provide a very nice mattress but there is not adequate space to set it up. I would prefer a pull out sofa. While I cannot complain about having a pool table I would like to mention the cues we had were missing the tips, one completely worn the other just missing all together. The enclosed porch was nice for the hottub but since it opens to the second story you have to watch out for spiders and webs when upstairs on the balcony. Our cabin was very clean and smelled fresh. There was a full kitchen with dinner and cookware provided. All linens were provided also. Coupons to attractions and restaurants were avail at the office. The check in/check out procedure was very easy and we felt welcomed. I was very disappointed with the workout facility. It shares space with the clubhouse. It is a small room with 2 pieces of cardio equipment a dumbbell rack to 45 lbs. There is what looks like a kitchen prep counter hiding in the corner and a couch that sits along the wall facing a tv in front of the cardio machines. The pool is a great size but a bit dirty. There were several small centipede looking worms attached to the walls and floating along the bottom in the shallow end. The kids kept scraping their feet on the cement bottom and the hot tub at the pool isn't very hot. They do have a large firepit area that looks nice but I never saw it in use. Overall we loved this retreat. We will most likely return. It is located just outside of Gatlinburg and away from the craziness of the towns. There are gas stations and dollar generals close by for small stops and it's about 15 min to the bigger grocery store and food choices.
