"Charged $219.00 for a cancellation fee."

As many know there was a hurricane Irma that was heading to SC in the first few days of unknowing. So I booked a few days with Timber lodge originally I booked Monday-Wed which was Sept 11-13, and I was given the instructions as long as I cancelled with so many hours ( prior to check in that I would not be charged a fee.( 2 days and 14 hours) which would have been Sept 8 before midnight. As the storm was still unknowing where it was actually going to hit I decided to change the arrival day to Sunday instead of Monday. So when we finally found out the storm was not going to be a direct hit I went to the site booking.com to cancel the reservation which was on Friday Sept 8 around 10:00 am, but to my surprise I was charged $219.00 for the cancellation. I then called Timber Lodge who in turn told me that I need to contact Booking.Com so I did and then they told me that I needed to contact the hotel directly to discuss the cancellation fee that I was being charged. Well to say the least no one was of any help.. I was told that they would speak to the supervisor and call me back. Well today is Sept 18th and I am still waiting on that phone call back. Just goes to show you that companies(hotels) do not stand behind their word and just make the rules as they go. I will never use booking.com or will I ever stay at this hotel. I gave this hotel plenty of notice to cancel the reservation and they still charged my credit card $219.00...You should be ashamed of the way you do business. I can only imagine how many others you did this too. You took advantage of a terrible situation to make a buck.. You must have needed it more. Sad too because your hotel looked like a nice family owned hotel but guess there are crooks in every corner..

My husband and I travel to pigeon forge a lot and we will definitely stay here again! I was very impressed with our room! The room was clean and cozy! We stayed in the 3 bed and there was a loft which was really neat! There was also a full size fridge which was nice! The outdoor pool was freezing but the rooms were great!

A great place to stay with the family. Walking distance to the Island. The only downfall was I got stuck in the elevator but the guy was working on it and forgot to put up the note. The pool was nice and the creek behind the lodge was pretty and relaxing.

"Small, but clean room. Nothing fancy, bathroom was tiny."

For being so close to a very busy highway, the room was very quiet. Clean, but definitely nothing fancy and definitely not worth more than $400 for three nights. However, I guess it it acceptable to jack up prices when a major hurricane is about to hit the east coast and millions of people are evacuating. The front desk staff (every one we encountered) were very helpful and pleasant. The owners wife and the owner....not so much. In fact, the wife was downright rude! Had we not been desperate for a place to stay due to the hurricane and could have booked another place I would have, but again, I guess when a major hurricane is about to hit the east coast and millions of people have to evacuate, it must be ok to be rude and yell at guests. I would have hoped for just a little more kindess with peoole that are already stressed. I won't make that mistake again. The bed was very uncomfortable and I felt like I slept with springs sticking me in the hip all night long. Husband said the same thing. On the plus side, there was a kuerig in the room and a small continental breakfast in the lobby (which we did not eat) every morning. The place to walk dogs (we did not have one) was a little strip of grass RIGHT BY THE HIGHWAY. The pictures of the area are definitely misleading. There were nice rocking chairs out in the common balcony area. Housekeepong knocked on our door one time and we were able to get more coffee and toilet paper. Other than that, no one came in to clean while we were there (which was fine with me), but if you are looking for daily housekeeping service this is not the place. Bring your own soap. The soap they supply leaves a dye in the wash cloths.

We stayed 5 nights& have stayed here during past trips. My biggest complaint is during check-in. The lady that checked us in was not polite at all. Our past experience is that most people in Tennessee are very nice, but this lady needs to be nicer to the customers. I was told later that this was the owners wife. We may decide to stay at a different hotel next visit. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint as they are average. Overall we had a pleasant stay.
