They offer beautiful cabins and located within a 20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge. The views are amazing and the three bedroom cabin was perfect for our family of six offering a bedroom and bathroom on each level. The kids loved the pool table and the adults loved the hot tub!

"Beautiful location....BUT...."

Our 8 bedroom cabin was beautiful but poorly maintained! Some of our issues included loose railings on the porch, broken shower door, leak in bedroom ceiling, roaches, broken kitchen faucet and a pesky bear. I would caution guests to thoroughly inspect the cabin upon arrival. All of the above issues should have been recognized by housekeeping, but were not! Many calls to customer care were unanswered..either by putting us on hold for 40 minutes or just dropping the call. When a service man did come out, he repaired the railings (major concern as we had 10 kids with us) and changed out the faucet. Other issues went untouched the entire week. The road up to the cabin is not for the faint of heart! Very steep and mostly without guard rails. On the plus side...beds were comfortable. A bear got into one of our car (yes! They can open the car door) that was left unlocked. He was sited throughout our time at the cabin which made for exciting bear hunts for our grandsons.

The scenery is breathtaking and the drive up was not too bad. Definitely very mountainous. The roads leading up were nicely maintained even though in places it is very tight with 2 vehicles but on a mountain that is to be expected.

"Scared of heights ! "

If you have a fear of heights this is NOT the place for you ! The scenery and views are beautiful, but the drive up here can bring a grown man to tears as it's very steep in places, narrow, and straight down on one side. It kind of ruined our stay, because we never got comfortable enough to try to drive up the dark.... and as we've been here several times before (Gatlinburg) we love the island in Pigeon Forge and downtown Gatlinburg at night ....This time we didn't get to see any of that for fear of having to get back here in the dark !!

"Beautiful views but nuisance bear"

Second stay at The Preserve. Our first time here (2015) we never saw a bear, although one morning saw what we thought was the aftermath of one (garbage up and down the road in front of one of the cabins). This time around, we have seen (after dark) or have been woken up by a bear getting into nearby cabins' garbage several times. I would estimate this bear to be at least 200 pounds. The scary part is that you could walk out of your cabin not knowing there could be a bear right out there. We have a dog that needs to be walked late at night and this produced a lot of anxiety for me. Our garbage was never messed with, but the container is secured to a foundation with a chain and D-ring type closure. Not all cabins have this type of setup. It seems like something should be done...what that is I have no idea. It seems that The Preserve should figure this out? Maybe the locals are cool with this, but us Yankees aren't used to dealing with bears (and don't want to).
