"Fabulous place"
August, 2016 NEW
We had an absolutely fabulous time! This aquarium appeals to all age groups. This was the first visit for some in our group but was my 3rd visit. We are actually planning to visit again next year...my baby will be a little over a year then and look forward to his smiles! Thank you for a wonderful place to visit for not a lot of money!
Tip: This is a very large aquarium. Plan to be there for a few hours.

"An Aquatic fun spot"
August, 2016 NEW
Do you want to feel like you are in the ocean world? Ripley's Aquarium lets you do just that. As you travel through you see so many different sea creatures. When you feel you need a break there is wonderful places to rest and for kids to enjoy. The many places you can "pop" your head up to be in with the fish, penquins, & really feel that you are in the ocean are so much fun. The sting ray and mermaid shows are educational and exciting. The newest exhibit where you can stand next to Truman & feel like you are in a submarine are a wonderful & fun learning experience. We really enjoyed our day.
Tip: Make sure to have cash for parking--otherwise just enjoy!

August, 2016 NEW
Everyone was very nice, and my son who did great in school was very pleased! We have gone countless times and he absolutely loves it! The sharks scares him, but other than that he loves to see the fish! We will definitely come back!
Tip: The aquarium closes at 11pm and they put the pigeons to sleep around 10:30pm.

"Amazing experience!"
August, 2016 NEW
We took the advice of the customer service assistant we called before our visit, and came 3 hours before closing on a week night. We avoided any crowds, and could leisurely view all the sea life. We liked the lockers where we stowed our stuff from walking around Gatlinburg. The aquariums had plenty of information about each exhibit (with pictures) to make it more enjoyable viewing the animals. The shark tank/tunnel with the people-mover was awe-inspiring! We could step off the walk-way to stay still and study, or keep moving and watching. All the animals seemed very healthy, the tanks were beautiful and vibrant. I liked learning a little about the inner-workings of such a huge aquarium, with the chemistry and science explained too. My husband really liked viewing the saw-toothed shark, who appeared to be resting just over our heads (wow!). We would recommend this aquarium to both families (lots of kid-friendly play areas), and older couples like us, a chance to get out of the heat and enter another world.
Tip: Go later in the day - couple hours before closing - and put your things in lockers for a couple dollars to have your hands free.

"Awesome Aquarium"
August, 2016 NEW
I wanted to go to the aquarium last year but didn't have the time or funds. We go to Gatlinburg every year and I decided to make sure we went to the aquarium. We pre-purchsed our tickets on the website and got a couples package and saved$14. We were in the aquarium for several hours. We enjoyed seeing the very large fish, different species of water creatures and the long tunnel where it rolled you through to see sharks, swordfish, stingray and tons more of different fish and sea creatures. There is a great play area for kids, if you have them (we don't ). The penguin exhibit was wonderful. You could go through tunnel and look like you were in with them. They are so cute. We enoted it so much and plan on going back again.
Tip: Gatlinburg is an awesome place to stay and lots of things to do. Shopping, riding the sky lift, playing in the creeks, walking trails and the restaurants are all good. Just a great family place to go. We even saw black bear cubs.

August, 2016 NEW
We had a great time. My 3 year old grandson was the life of the party - he loved the aquarium, especially the Big Sharks!! One of the most precious memories is he got a Souvenir cup and you would have thought he had all the toys in the world. His face lit up and he had the biggest smile ever!! Making him happy and enjoying life's precious moments is the best thing ever.
Tip: Go expecting to have a great time with your family!! Plan on spending a few days so you can enjoy everything instead of having to pick and choose.

I had visited the aquarium before but this time there were some added things such as the penguins. It was fun even though my grandchildren are both teenagers, they still had a great time. It was really fun that one of the penguins was named Frank. My grandson's name is Franklin. They thought the sharks were the coolest.

"Fun time with the family!"
August, 2016 NEW
We enjoyed this visit. It was kind of short, but they have many interesting aspects including touching the jellies, sting rays, horseshoe crabs, and the War exhibit. The have an indoor playground for the kiddos to play on, and drinks/snacks along the way. It was set up nicely. There is also a gift shop with reasonably priced items as gifts. The only downfall was the pictures were expensive if you decide to purchase, and it was a bit short. Great length of time with little ones though, they don't lose interest. We took three little ones ages 3, 6, and 7 and they all enjoyed.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring hand sanitizer.

The entry fee is reasonable considering all that this aquarium offers. The fish were in great habitats with plenty of room. The observation glass was exceptionally clean inside and out. The lighting in the entire aquarium was effectively placed to show off the beautiful coloring of the sea life. Lots of play and climbing area for the children to go to and see the sea life from above. The facility was well staffed to assist if you need anything. Gift shop was stocked with reasonably priced tee shirts, toys and gifts.

July, 2016
Ripleys Aquarium was great. Our son enjoyed everything there even though it was very crowded. We did have a hard time seeing a few things due to the crowds and people pushing in front of others. The Aquarium has a large variety of things to see and look at. Touching the horseshoe crabs and jellyfish was really cool. My 9 year old son loved the jellyfish. The sharks are amazing and pretty big to. I didn't think they would have sharks of that size in the tanks but was pleasantly surprised by that. The penguins are a very nice add also. We had a great time at Ripleys and we will be coming back.
Tip: Plan for atleast a couple hours to see everything.

My husband and I recently visited Ripleys Aquarium and I felt like a kid again. My husband had been there before (as a child) but I hadn't, so he cautioned me beforehand to not get my hopes up if it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread--because "everyone knows aquariums are for children." Well I beg to differ! I had the best time of my life in that place and I'd go again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Ripleys!

July, 2016
We went to the aquarium while on vacation. Our group included 5 adults and 8 children ages 1-8 years old. We bought the tickets ahead of time which offered a discounted price but had to wait longer at the guest services to print them off than if we just would have boughten the tickets when we got there. Once we gained admittance, the rest of the visit was awesome. It was easy to navigate through the facility from one spectacle to another and keep with our group. The Penguins were the kids favorite along with the tunnel with sharks swimming overhead.
Tip: If you purchase tickets ahead of time, it will save you more time to print them off ahead of time.

July, 2016
We surprised our son with a trip for his 12th birthday, street out well but the minute we hit the door it turned. Completely overcrowded. If I was the fore marshall...let's just say a lot of people would have been turned away. The business is great for you, but not for your patrons. There were things we were hoping to see, however didn't get close due to the massive crowd.
Tip: Worth a go, but knkw what your getting into and take plenty of tylenol

"Fun Day- interactive"
July, 2016
Let's face it, who wants to go to ANOTHER aquarium? They're all the same. Not this one! This one was awesome. Easy to travel through. Great interactive displays for the kids. The shark tank, moving sidewalk was tremendous. There is a kids play area being built that looks like great fun. The live presentations and feeding were really neat. All 3 of my children loved the touch tanks. I of course declined to touch anything that even appeared slimy but great for the kids. We bought our tickets as true tourists and packaged them with other attractions so the price was good. parking was a fair $6 for the day. We give it a thumbs up!
Tip: Go through once and see what your favorite parts are and go back around again.

"Great Place !!"
July, 2016
This was my 2nd trip to the Aquarium. It didn't disappoint ! My kids really enjoyed it. They were upset that the new play area wasn't open yet. They enjoyed the Touch the Sting Ray Bay and the Jelly fish. We did have to pick the little ones up in order to reach them and of course they got their shirt sleeves wet but they didn't care ! The penguin exhibit was awesome we really liked the tunnel you can climb through to get a closer look at them. The Pear Harbor exhibit was nice to see also ! It was very informative.
Tip: Order your tickets online to avoid a long line and their cheaper !

"One of the best stops on our vacation"
July, 2016
We spent a couple of hours at Ripley's Aquarium, the line to get in moved relatively quick since I bought my tickets online. We saw the entire aquarium, it is set up in a loop so you don't miss an exhibit. We did not get to pet the stingrays because the hammerhead sharks were being a little too social, but we still enjoyed seeing both very close. I was able to get lots of pictures and videos and really be able to remember the trip. My daughter already wants to go back
Tip: If you are driving, get there early, there was no handicap parking and the garage was packed like sardines...also get the tickets online before your trip, otherwise you have to wait in two lines just to get in, bot to mention they are significantly cheaper online

"Ripley's Aquarium of Smokies"
June, 2016
We were very excited to take our children, ages 5 & 9, here while vacationing in Pigeon Forge. The parking behind the Aquarium is very convenient and well organized. It is a short walk to the aquarium, then a flight of stairs. We arrived within 30 minutes of opening on a Wednesday and it was already packed. We ordered our tickets online, which helped us skip a pretty long line. Inside, we saw a super awesome playground structure and were disappointed it wasn't quite open yet, but my kids really wanted to play on it so it must have been good! Walking through the beginning of the Aquarium was slow. Way too many people and summer camp groups. We just stood in line for everything. The fish they had were great, but my husband and I don't feel like it was all it was hyped up to be from our online research. We managed to find a place to sit for the Feeding Frenzy show with the stingrays, after there was literally zero space left for the Mermaid Show earlier...then an elderly lady decided to stand up and completely blocked my entire family's view, so we checked out the Touch A Ray Bay above the show. I think that was the most disappointing part. The wall around it is poorly designed to allow for children to get close safely. They have to lay across the wall, there's not much space for the amount of people there, and half of the petting area was blocked off with a net I believe had baby sting rays behind, but it really blocked a lot of people trying to touch the rays. The only way we got to touch one was the diver came up and helped bring them up to the edges, where we got a quick pet and I ushered my children along so that others could have a chance. The penguin display was nothing exciting. It was cute, but not like it was hyped up to be. I was pleasantly surprised that the food prices weren't as high as I had expected, but a meal was still 8.99 (burger or hot dog, etc). There was a nice gift shop at the end of the walk through, and they had a good variety of items and prices. The Pearl Harbor exhibit was pretty neat, as well.
Tip: Get there early; get to the shows at least 30 minutes early to get a good seat

Had always wanted to go here, and decided to bring my Mother & Father-in law with us! Handicapped accessible, a great feature because Everyone should see this! Information at each of the stations, creatures I had never heard of let alone seen in several instances. Laid out well, pleasant inside. Only downside, 1 place to eat, food was overly expensive and there was nowhere to sit. After eating, people should GET UP and GET OFF their cellphones and get on with seeing the aquarium! Other than that?? All was great and well worth the money spent. We still talk about from time to time. Great Job! Thanks!
Tip: Tickets ahead is a great idea, the line to purchase was L O N G. Bring a sweater if you chill easily.

We visited the Aquarium on a Friday morning. No line for tickets. Walked in and began our tour. Aquariums were clean, easy to see, floors were clean and staff friendly and accommodating.

I will say that the "Pearl Harbor" exhibit was disappointing. there is too much floor displays such as pictures, models of ships and airplanes. I was expecting maybe a replica of a sunken Battle Ship which would have given an idea of what happened. what does it look like now. I think that would stop people and allow younger people especially to see what happened and why we still remember December 7,1941.

We enjoyed going to the aquarium during our stay in Gatlinburg. It was smaller than I had imagined and because of the rain was definitely crowded, but they have a lot of really neat things to see and a lot of fun, interactive areas for the kids. The shark tunnel was super cool and probably my favorite part of the aquarium. The penguins were cute too. "great experience at the aquarium"
October, 2015
The aquarium was great! I highly recommend it for families with children of any age. You will especially enjoy the shark tank tunnel with all the fantastic sea creatures besides the sharks. This attraction lasted longer than I thought, it takes you through a tunnel in a moving floor, but you can step out of it if you want to. The shows are very interesting with divers inside the tanks entertaining the audience while you learn many educational facts. This visit is worth your time and money.

This was by far the best aquarium I have ever been to. The exhibits were clean and full of information. The shark exhibit was breathtaking. I had been to a couple of other shark exhibits and this one is hands down the best! This is a definite must-see attraction in the area especially if you have children.

This was such an amazing place to go. I have been to other Ripley's facilities but this was the most fun and entertaining. You think you will go in and see wild fish but you will be amazed at the amount of different species you will see. Thousands of fish, turtles, sharks, etc. Plus they have a penguin aquarium with a show. We were there for several hours and didn't want it to end.

My husband and I went on our anniversary weekend. There was no long wait to get in our to view any of the animals! I would highly recommend going on the moving floor underneath the aquarium it gives you a whole new perspective. The staff was super helpfull and very knowledgeable for the locations of each habitat. There are even some spots that allow you to interact and touch some of the animals! This is a great place for children and adults alike!

This was a very nice aquarium to visit, but it really seemed much smaller than many I have visited over the years. The exhibits were nice, but pretty typical as to what you my find anywhere else. Nonetheless, its a good place for young children to enjoy themselves. The staff is really great here and will go above and beyond to accommodate any needs you might have.
Tip: It's not very many exciting things to see at this aquarium.

It is wonderful. We enjoyed it as much as the first time we went. We spent the day there. There is so much to see and so many different kinds of sea animals. There are special times they feed certain fish, you will not want to miss these. There is a special area for kids to play and get pictures token with them in center of fish tanks. They love that. There is benches everywhere for people to set and rest. I liked that there where places they take your picture and then you get to pick out what you want as background. It would be a great place to take children and grandchildren.
Tip: You can take all day or just a couple hours but they will be fun

"One of a kind!!!"
August, 2015
Any and all creatures you can think of that have anything to do with water are here! Displayed in well lighted tanks. No matter what size you are, you can see everything. My favorites were the penguin display and the HUGE tank that had all the VERY large creatures in it. I am partial to penguins because "they are slow, but sure and always dressed for any occasion." As you approach the LARGE tank, you step onto a conveyor belt and face the tank. You move very slow, so everyone has a bird's eye view of the SHARKS! Yes, there were other large fish, eels, octopus (no, he was in his own tank), and more sharks. That's all I can remember right now. And the tank goes over your head and down the other side!!! Just the most amazing thing we had ever seen!
Tip: Have plenty of time to walk and enjoy each display. There are demostrations too. Enjoy!!!

My kids were excited especially my nine year old, he had the best time of all. My twelve year old daughter liked the hands-on exhibits such as the horeshoe crabs and the various activities in the discovery center. My seven year old was amazed with everything. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves as well. We made a video going through one of the areas where you see all of the sharks/stingrays/other schools of fish. It was nice the way you went around on the conveyor belt thingy. I'm not to sure if the shows were free because when we got through one area it we would miss one. Overall, its a great place to visit with your family. I would definitely recommend.

We took our kids to Ripley's Aquarium this year for the first time during their spring break. The kids were constantly amazed by the size of the fish they encountered. It was great seeing the look on their faces when we went in the shark tunnel and they realized that the sharks were swimming right above them!
Tip: We stayed in Pigeon Forge, but parked in an all day parking lot for $5, which was a few blocks away. We also noticed when we got the the front of the aquarium, that it appears (according to the signs) that the trolley drops off right in front of the aquarium. Be sure to order your tickets online, and it will save you the hassle of waiting in a long line to get in!

We were on a family vacation of 10 in Gatlinburg this summer. We all decided spur of the moment to go to the aquarium. Tickets were substantially cheaper at www.reservegatlinburg.com. I purchased the tickets and 30 minutes later picked them up at the window with no problems!!! Wonderful experience.
Tip: Plan activities well. Traffic is awful.

"Mini-vacation with friends"
February, 2015
One of the main reasons we went to Pigeon Forge is to go to the penguin exhibit at the aquarium. I have an obsession with them and have wanted to go for many years. The penguin exhibit was WONDERFUL!!! I was hoping it would be a little larger. We got to the exhibit at one of the feeding times and there were a lot of people. You couldn't really get close to the glass unless you waited for about 30 minutes (which was fine by me!). The aquarium is very peaceful and it was very easy to wander around. Will definitely be going back and getting in a room to play with a penguin!
Tip: Not having kids of my own I tend to notice uncomfortable things parents do so I don't do them in public when I have kids. This place (and most aquariums) are not set up to have strollers. You are bumping into people with them and preventing others from getting close to the exhibits. If your child is small enough that they can not walk or be held for about an hour then you should choose to go on a less busy/crowded day.

It was awesome. We had a 13, 8 and 4 year old and we all had fun. I love where it is and it is so interactive. We will definitely visit when we return. The only real downside is how busy it was. That did not interfere with how awesome it was though.
Tip: Watch the mermaid show! My son (and husband) loved it!

Last minute we decided to go to the aquarium so we purchased tickets online. We had no problem using the etickets off my phone instead of printing and the kids had a great time. The tunnel with the sharks and turtle was a big hit with my daughter and both kids loved the penguins. It was a couple hours to see everything and then we just went back to our favorites.
Tip: Save a few dollars each ticket and buy online

"Great time for the kids"
February, 2015
We enjoyed the aquarium as it was one of our favorite activities. We have a 15 and 16 year old and were afraid it might be too young for them but we all had a great time. We were able to touch stingrays, explore a tropical rainforest and view sharks up close. The discovery center was great for little kids to learn more about the ocean. Our favorite stop was the penguin playhouse. They are so cute so close up. Lastly we made the stop at the gift shop and picked up some great souvenirs.
Tip: Parking was very easy but the streets of Gatlinburg have a lot of pedestrians so factor in additional time for drive time.

My family and I had a great time visiting the aquarium. The shark tunnel was the best! So cool! The kids loved being able to touch the stingrays and jellyfish and to be able to climb around inside the penguin area and fish tanks. We took so many pictures. This aquarium is really quite fantastic. They have so many things to see! Creatures that I never even knew existed! And the experience is very educational as well with many hands on activities for the kids. We will definitely visit here again!

"Great Place, Just go Early"
January, 2015
Pros:

- A lot of interactive exhibits for kids to keep themselves entertained. My nephews had a lot of fun with the horseshoe crabs especially!
- Cost was reasonable, especially for the children, and everyone in my family had a great time.

Cons:

- Parking will be terrible if you get there late, but you can say that about most of Gatlinburg. The hourly rating that is behind the aquarium is quite fair all considered.

- The place is starting to show some age. We found a spider that looked like a brown recluse in the wood for the coconut crab exhibit, which we alerted staff to.

Overall:

One of the better places to go if you get the chance, especially if you have a large group as you can meander through unimpeded. I would advise that you go early in the day if you can manage, otherwise it can be a bit crowded.

My sister, my 12 year old grandson, my 12 year old niece, my two cousins from Milwaukee and I really enjoyed the aquarium. We spent hours there. There are so many things to see and the inter-active aquariums where you can crawl in with your head sticking up was lots of fun and made for great photos. This is an activity that you can visit year round. Well worth the admission price.

"Awesome views... Awesome creativity... Lots to see and do"
January, 2015
My fiance' and I had planned this trip for 4 months. The Ripley's Aquarium was a MUST. So glad we went. It's relaxing, educational, hands-on things to do and beautiful sights and displays to see,,, We didn't expect to go into the aquarium tunnel and find divers carving pumpkins under water... That was awesome to see. They would release the chunks of pumpkin into the water and little fish and a huge turtle would swoop in and grab a bite... We also got to see a stingray with the diver show... The soft pretzels in the cafeteria are awesome... a bit salty but really good... I look forward to another visit.
Tip: We got a package deal in which we also went to the Titanic museum (No cameras or phones allowed inside for privacy purposes)
