"Super nice aquarium! Definitely worth it!"
Reviewed April, 2016
This aquarium is so nice. I was super impressed. Sometimes touristy places have "aquariums" that consist of a few fish and reptiles. But this is the real deal. The exhibits were beautiful and the animals all looked happy / healthy. I particularly enjoyed being able to interact with some of the marine life. Plus the penguin exhibit was neat. If your in PF, stop here. You will enjoy it!

This place was awesome, the parking area made us kind of scared of how cramped it was going to be, but with loads of people there it was still easily accessable. The place was great! Would definitely take the kids back every time we go to gatlinburg!
Tip: Eat with the fishes in the background, our kids were amazed by it. Take extra money

Ripleys is a great aquarium! I'm from Atlanta and even though it's home to the largest aquarium in the world the Ripley's aquarium was just as awesome, and I even think my kids enjoyed Ripley's more! It has a lot of hands on exhibits and they're very interactive. We will definitely visit the aquarium again when we come back to Gatlinburg!
Tip: Expect to be there at least 2-3 hours to get the full and awesome effect

Reviewed October, 2015
We enjoyed going to the aquarium during our stay in Gatlinburg. It was smaller than I had imagined and because of the rain was definitely crowded, but they have a lot of really neat things to see and a lot of fun, interactive areas for the kids. The shark tunnel was super cool and probably my favorite part of the aquarium. The penguins were cute too. I don't think it was quite as good as I was hoping it would be, but we still enjoyed visiting and learned a lot of interesting things.

The aquarium was great! I highly recommend it for families with children of any age. You will especially enjoy the shark tank tunnel with all the fantastic sea creatures besides the sharks. This attraction lasted longer than I thought, it takes you through a tunnel in a moving floor, but you can step out of it if you want to. The shows are very interesting with divers inside the tanks entertaining the audience while you learn many educational facts. This visit is worth your time and money.

There are special times they feed certain fish, you will not want to miss these. There is a special area for kids to play and get pictures token with them in center of fish tanks. They love that. There is benches everywhere for people to set and rest. I liked that there where places they take your picture and then you get to pick out what you want as background. It would be a great place to take children and grandchildren.

Any and all creatures you can think of that have anything to do with water are here! Displayed in well lighted tanks. No matter what size you are, you can see everything. My favorites were the penguin display and the HUGE tank that had all the VERY large creatures in it. I am partial to penguins because "they are slow, but sure and always dressed for any occasion." As you approach the LARGE tank, you step onto a conveyor belt and face the tank. You move very slow, so everyone has a bird's eye view of the SHARKS! Yes, there were other large fish, eels, octopus (no, he was in his own tank), and more sharks. That's all I can remember right now. And the tank goes over your head and down the other side!!! Just the most amazing thing we had ever seen!
Tip: Have plenty of time to walk and enjoy each display. There are demostrations too. Enjoy!!!

My kids were excited especially my nine year old, he had the best time of all. My twelve year old daughter liked the hands-on exhibits such as the horeshoe crabs and the various activities in the discovery center. My seven year old was amazed with everything. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves as well. We made a video going through one of the areas where you see all of the sharks/stingrays/other schools of fish. It was nice the way you went around on the conveyor belt thingy. I'm not to sure if the shows were free because when we got through one area it we would miss one. Overall, its a great place to visit with your family. I would definitely recommend.

"Ripley's Aquarium is a great experience for the family!"

We took our kids to Ripley's Aquarium this year for the first time during their spring break. The kids were constantly amazed by the size of the fish they encountered. It was great seeing the look on their faces when we went in the shark tunnel and they realized that the sharks were swimming right above them!
Tip: We stayed in Pigeon Forge, but parked in an all day parking lot for $5, which was a few blocks away. We also noticed when we got the the front of the aquarium, that it appears (according to the signs) that the trolley drops off right in front of the aquarium. Be sure to order your tickets online, and it will save you the hassle of waiting in a long line to get in!

One of the main reasons we went to Pigeon Forge is to go to the penguin exhibit at the aquarium. I have an obsession with them and have wanted to go for many years. The penguin exhibit was WONDERFUL!!! I was hoping it would be a little larger. We got to the exhibit at one of the feeding times and there were a lot of people. You couldn't really get close to the glass unless you waited for about 30 minutes (which was fine by me!). The aquarium is very peaceful and it was very easy to wander around. Will definitely be going back and getting in a room to play with a penguin!
Tip: Not having kids of my own I tend to notice uncomfortable things parents do so I don't do them in public when I have kids. This place (and most aquariums) are not set up to have strollers. You are bumping into people with them and preventing others from getting close to the exhibits. If your child is small enough that they can not walk or be held for about an hour then you should choose to go on a less busy/crowded day.

"Great Place, Just go Early"
Reviewed January, 2015
Pros:

- A lot of interactive exhibits for kids to keep themselves entertained. My nephews had a lot of fun with the horseshoe crabs especially!
- Cost was reasonable, especially for the children, and everyone in my family had a great time.

Cons:

- Parking will be terrible if you get there late, but you can say that about most of Gatlinburg. The hourly rating that is behind the aquarium is quite fair all considered.

- The place is starting to show some age. We found a spider that looked like a brown recluse in the wood for the coconut crab exhibit, which we alerted staff to.

Overall:

One of the better places to go if you get the chance, especially if you have a large group as you can meander through unimpeded. I would advise that you go early in the day if you can manage, otherwise it can be a bit crowded.

My fiance' and I had planned this trip for 4 months. The Ripley's Aquarium was a MUST. So glad we went. It's relaxing, educational, hands-on things to do and beautiful sights and displays to see,,, We didn't expect to go into the aquarium tunnel and find divers carving pumpkins under water... That was awesome to see. They would release the chunks of pumpkin into the water and little fish and a huge turtle would swoop in and grab a bite... We also got to see a stingray with the diver show... The soft pretzels in the cafeteria are awesome... a bit salty but really good... I look forward to another visit.

What can I say....except WOW!!! From start to finish, Ripley's aquarium was a one stop shop for awesome. I couldn't get enough...and my kids were on cloud nine. My favorite parts were the underwater tunnel and the penguins. Don't get me wrong, it's not every day you can touch a jellyfish without consequence, but that tunnel was so cool!

My son mostly loved it. But a part of the shark tank was kinda dark, 5 sharks went and hid over in that part, so it was a little scary. He loved the pearl harbor where u can turn the handles of the boats and knobs. However they need more types of animals. The great shark take is a great view from up above.
