"Awful"
February, 2016
This review is for the "4D" thing. An adult ticket is $15 in person. The exterior and lobby looks convincingly decent though empty - good enough to draw you in and get you to buy the ticket. Unfortunately, that's the best of it. The "ride" is just about 5 minutes. You sit on a platform that spins around to face one of a few screens. There are cheap "4D" effects thrown in (eg. stuff poking your butt, or midgets under the seats, etc.). The people working it clearly don't want to be there or interact with you, at all. The guy looked like they dragged a mechanic in from some shop, presumably because the ride breaks constantly (which seems correct, based on recent reviews).

Then the program they probably bought pre-packaged starts, skipping the intro and having audio issues, so you don't really know what the storyline is or what you're supposed to do. You have a gun and there are things flying at you, so I guess you're supposed to shoot them. Whatever registers the "points" doesn't work. Then the graphics lag terribly, because at $15/ticket, they apparently couldn't be bothered to buy a sub-$1,000 computer that anyone who plays computer games would have. They probably spent all the money on the exterior to draw you in. Anyway, so the thing freezes and there are bats stuck on the screen, but the audio still plays. Then you see a Windows desktop's wallpaper. Really? Yes, that's how chaotically awful the "Castle of Chaos" was.

Seriously - read all the negative reviews before you decide to waste your life here. I don't know how it got so many positive ones - but I feel they weren't gained through legitimate means. The whole thing reeked of a crappy fly-by-night operation that popped up because someone realized they could make a profit after buying equipment for some game on ebay, and it somehow still exists - probably because they threw enough money at advertising and a decent web site. Someone else paid for my ticket, and I still felt like I was ripped off. It's not even worth the $3-$4 extra when added onto the wax museum/mirror maze thing. I was with a group and didn't want to make a stink out of it, otherwise I would've demanded a refund or tickets to one of the other attractions, and I'm not one to ever do that.

It’s best to get the 4 in 1 ticket that includes the Castle of Chaos and the Hollywood Wax museum. There is a lot to do here from a Mirror maze to a 5D ride. Definitely worth a visit.

Still cool it's now a 3D type of shoot em up, the only reason I subtracted a star is now here's nothing separating it from the other shoot em up cinemas in this tourist town Last year it was different because you sat in a large area hat spun around from screen to screen Still worth it from the all access pass though

"I did the werewolf ride"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

It was fun but too short if you were paying $16 to do it without the All Access Pass from the Wax Museum. My gun did not shoot where I was pointing it and I ended up with a crazy low score. It was the gun! I swear! :) They did offer rerides for $5 and I was tempted to spend the money and try the robots in the old west ride, but I didn't. The graphics were high quality and it was even a little bit scary with all of the werewolves suddenly jumping out at you with no warning. This combined with the high quality zombie haunted walkthrough make the All Access Path worth getting, but I'd skip doing it separately.
