"Big Creek Expeditions was AWESOME!"
August, 2016
We went on an Upper Pigeon river rafting trip, and it was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and really accommodating to my son with autism. There were SOOOO many rafts in the water, and it was obvious that so many of the other guides were too young and inexperienced. I was really thankful we chose Big Creek, based on the experience level of the guides alone. The office was really accommodating as well, and the photos turned out really great.

The experience was amazing. Me or my son had never even been in a boat and so we were a little nervous. But the young girl that took us was awesome. Sweet, funny and made the experience great. Already planning on going again next month!

Tip: Wear sunscreen on your knees. Sounds crazy but both my son and boyfriends knees were the only thing burnt when we were finished lol

"Very nice rafting operation in a great location."
July, 2016
This was a great experience. We dropped the car off at their property, conveniently located just off of the interstate service road and hung out and walked the gift shop as we waiting for our boarding time. Staff was great, including the tour guide. We felt comfortable and safe at all times and I would highly recommend. We go to Gatlinburg at least once a year and I'm sure we'll go back and do this again.

The white water rafting trip was awesome!!! We had planned zip lining too, but it did not work out. But if it was half as much fun as the white water rafting, you would not be disappointed. Well done!! Great for kids of all ages even the yuytes...

Absolutely awesome time thanks to our guide Erica. We've been on several other whitewater trips on different rivers, but this was probably the best trip based on the guide's knowledge and ability to maneuver the raft in spite of the groups she was working with. She it seem very effortless. Highly recommend!

"Stoney made our vacation EPIC"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed August 23, 2017
Our family of 5 drove up from Florida to watch the Eclipse. Whitewater rafting was something I definitely wanted to include on this trip, so I started trying to find the best deals. There was a Groupon for Big Creek and a few other places, and one of the reviews on Groupon says they wouldn't let them use the Groupon when they got there, which obviously made me nervous, but averaged out with the reviews everywhere else it seemed like there may have been more to that story, so I took the chance and booked it anyways. I'm SO glad I didn't let that review sway me! We had an absolutely amazing time! Our guide Stoney was energetic and engaging the entire time and funnier than any other guides I've ever had on previous guided adventures. The fact he truly enjoys what he does was evident every second of this trip. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the river, and whitewater rafting in general, so we also learned a lot on the calmer parts, which is always something I enjoy about these experiences. There was even a lady in our group who couldn't swim and he was so reassuring and patient with her and her son, explaining exactly how we would help her if for any reason she ended up in the water. Getting a mixed group of people to cooperate, doing something most of them have very little experience in has got to be frustrating at times, but with Stoney I doubt you'd ever be able to tell. Honestly, everyone at Big Creek was amazing! JD, one of their other guides, and Erica in the office were both helpful and friendly upon arrival, our safety talk, and return. I felt like they explained things effectively to our children, and felt confident in their ability to keep them safe. Their shower facilities are very clean and the property and equipment are well maintained. The short ride up to where you put in is pleasant and the busses are in good condition. You literally paddle back to their property, so there is no return bus ride, which was nice, since you're very wet at that point. I loved everything about this experience and feel confident saying I think your family would as well.
