Spend the Thanksgiving Holiday in Pigeon Forge, TN

Thanksgiving is known as a family holiday, with traditional feasts and sale shopping synonymous with the day as much as turkey. However, certain traditions are evolving, with many families choosing to forgo the trip to Grandma’s house and instead using the four-day weekend for a mini-getaway. That’s one reason Pigeon Forge, Tenn., has become a major destination the week of Thanksgiving.

There are more than 10,000 rooms in the city of Pigeon Forge, enabling the destination to welcome many visitors, especially during holidays. Plus, the variety of lodging options, which includes condos and cabins with full kitchens for guests who want to fix a Thanksgiving meal, and hotels for guests who wish to be served a meal rather than make a meal. Cabin options include Hearthside Cabin Rentals, Bluff Mountain Rentals and Cramer’s Creekside Cabins, while condo options include Cedar Lodge Condominiums, RiverStone Resort, Cherokee Lodge and Mountain Vista Luxury Rentals. Hotel choices include Oak Tree Lodge, Bearskin Lodge on the River, Fairfield Inn & Suites Gatlinburg, and The Resort at Governor’s Crossing.

For visitors who would like to attend a dinner show on Thanksgiving day, there are several great entertainment options. Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show, Black Bear Christmas Spectacular, Smith Family Dinner Show and Hoot N Holler Dinner Show are all open on Thanksgiving and are all serving a delicious meal to accompany their show. A few of the Pigeon Forge restaurants that will be open on the holiday include Alamo Steakhouse, Bennett’s Bar-B-Que, Mama’s Farmhouse, the Old Mill Restaurant and the Pottery House Café & Grill.

The city will already be holiday themed during the Thanksgiving break, as WinterFest, Pigeon Forge’s four-month celebration started in early November, so the city is aglow in brilliant light displays.

Pigeon Forge shows will also be open on Thanksgiving day. Cirque De Chine, The Comedy Barn, Country Tonite and The Temptations Revue are just a few of the entertaining choices available.
Of course, plenty of Pigeon Forge shopping will be open for Black Friday sales, so getting a head start on your Christmas shopping will be a piece of cake, or in this case, pie.

Pigeon Forge Christmas Shows are a Holiday Tradition

During the holiday season, Pigeon Forge Shows put on all the glitz for productions that provide the perfect way to celebrate Christmas. When you visit the area, you’ll want to make time to see these special shows.

The Miracle at The Miracle Theater: What better way to celebrate the Christmas holiday than witness a retelling of the life of Christ. Recreated in epic proportions, this show is a music spectacular featuring actors, singers, dancers, live animals and wonderful special effects. During the show you’ll be treated to majestic kings on camels, centurion soldiers on horses, the passion of Christ’s crucifixion, as well as his glorious and miraculous ascension. It is a moving story that is even more touching during this special time of year.

Black Bear Jamboree Christmas Spectacular: The production at the Black Bear Jamboree Theater features Santa , his reindeer and sleigh full of toys as they embark on Christmas Eve to deliver present to all the boys & girls of the world. However, as they cross the Great Smoky Mountains, two of the presents accidently fall out of the sleigh and land on a cave of hibernating bears. The bears, now awake, curiously venture outside and the toys come to life to tell them of all the Christmas fun they miss each year due to their hibernation. The toys show the bears all about Christmas, from the glitz and glamour of New York holiday, to country traditions featuring sleigh rides and carols, to the most important Christmas – the first Christmas – when Jesus was born. The show also serves a delicious Christmas feast of southern style chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, seasoned potatoes, soup and more.

Country Tonite Christmas Show: The Christmas show at Country Tonite in Pigeon Forge is an inspirational production that showcases everyone’s favorite Christmas carols and jingles in a merry winter wonderland setting. Songs like “Jingle Bells,” “Silver Bells,” and “Winter Wonderland” are sweetly sung to guests, while Santa and his reindeer prance and dance around the stage with the rest of the cast. The magic of the season abounds with a host of holiday songs, elaborate costumes and sets, and enough cheer to last you all year!
