ZORB globe riding is the latest and greatest adventure activity to come out of New Zealand. Yes, that's right – New Zealand – the innovative little country at the bottom of the world that brought you Bungee Jumping, Hobbits, and a range of other crazy things to do while on vacation!!
Left to our own devices down under, we managed to conjure up the latest adventure craze to hit the world – globe riding! ZORB is the market leader in the sport and we make sure you, our dedicated ZORBONAUTS, leave us with an abdominal workout to be proud of; a new beat thumping in your chest, new dreams to dream about, and a bucket list with the number one item crossed off! ZORB Smoky Mountains is the latest addition to the ZORB family. Operating since late 2007, it is now stamping its mark on the US market. Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, it is the only official ZORB site in the whole of the US and attracts people from afar afield as the West Coast USA and abroad. The ZYDRO Ride is our wildest ride. We throw you, up to two friends, and water (make a note – warm, water in winter, and cold in summer. Yes, we do look after you!) inside the ZORB globe and send you on your way down the hill. Inside the ZORB globe, you – The ZORBONAUT – are free to slip, slide, and spin inside the globe for an action packed, wet ride down the hill. ZYDRO riders have three tracks to choose from (decision can be made at any time): 1. Straight track: Up to three people can ride in the same globe. 2. Zig-Zag track: For one person only, zig and zag your way down our hill. 3. Zipper track: For one person only, like the zig-zag but MUCH slower. Known as our 'astronaut-in-training' ride, the ZORBIT Ride is a head over heels adrenaline rush that will have you coming back for more. Strapped into the ZORB globe in a specially designed safety harness, you are sent on your trip down the hill rolling head over heels, heels over head as the ground and sky go whizzing past in a beautiful mosaic of blue... green ... blue ... green ... while your body is subjected to the soft and relaxing feeling of weightlessness and g-force. The ZORBIT ride is only available for one person at a time, and only down our straight tracks. Slightly more strenuous on the body, the ZORBIT ride is the ride for those wanting to stay dry and get their adrenaline fix. It will have you wanting more. And more. And more. And more. |

The ZORB Smoky Mountains is a thrilling experience that is truly one-of-a-kind. Offering the Zydro (wet ride) or Zorbit (dry ride) the ZORB in Pigeon Forge will get your adrenaline pumping. The rides take place in a giant, inflatable, 12ft globe that sends you rolling down a specially designed hill. The ZORB globes are essentially a globe inside a globe. You, the Zorbonaut, are placed inside the inner globe and rolled down the hill while cushioned on a 3ft pocket of air. When I arrived at the ZORB headquarters, I checked in and received my ZORB S.T.A.R.T. Certificate, which meant I was ready for my adventure. After that, I headed outside and took a look at the hill that I would soon be tumbling down. The hill doesn’t seem that long until you reach the top. That’s when you can really see how far you’re going to roll – the length of six football fields. All the same, I was amped to experience the ZORB. I choose to do the Zorbit ride, which promised a head-over-heels adrenaline rush that’ll have you coming back for more. After strapping into the specially-designed safety harness, I was ready to become a Zorbonaut. At first tumble, I realized this was going to be a blur of blue, green, blue, green. The ride down the hill kept a smile plastered on my face the entire time and even though my eyes remained open during the entire journey, I witnessed only a beautiful mosaic of blues and greens, only aware of what was sky and what was earth. While zorbiting I had the feeling of weightlessness and g-force.ZORB employees take photos of your adventure that can be purchased once your ride is complete. I highly recommend becoming a Zorbonaut to anyone that visits Pigeon Forge. I can’t wait to try out the Zydro on my next trip! |
