Scenic Helicopter Tours is the top Pigeon Forge attraction to go to see the Smokies in their entire splendor. With a variety of scenic tours to choose from, guests leave satisfied and awed by their helicopter tour. Take my word, as I recently went on my very first helicopter ride with Scenic Helicopters and can’t say enough about the wonderful experience. After arriving at the Scenic Helicopter Tour headquarters in Sevierville, I was greeted by friendly staff that told me about the tour I had chosen. I felt assured my experience would be safe and memorable, and soon after climbed into the front seat of the copter, adjusted my headphones that let me communicate and hear pilot Dan Haynes, and was off the ground. The initial lift is a unique moment, as before you know it you are flying above the ground you were just standing on. I had chosen the Gatlinburg Tour, or Mountain Valley Tour, and it provided the perfect mix of scenic images from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Bluff Mountain and Tennessee Valley. It rained in a few short patches during my tour, forming a beautiful smoke over the mountains, creating a memory of the truly Great Smoky Mountains no other experience had been able to do. Credit has to be given to Dan Haynes, who navigated and narrated the trip with ease. Some of the most memorable moments include soaring over mountain tops into a vast valley down below, seeing the Smoky Mountains from the best vantage point you can imagine and the pure joy I felt my simply flying above it all. It is not an experience to be missed. I recommend everyone make Scenic Helicopter Tours Pigeon Forge a part of their Pigeon Forge vacation experience. |
How many people do the helicopters at Scenic Helicopter Tours hold?
Our helicopter's hold either three (3) or four (4) passengers. We believe in quality rather than quantity, and our helicopters offer the best visibility with all seats facing forward.
How long do the flights last?
To get the times on the flights, you just cut the miles in half. So for example the River Island flight is 8 miles in distance, so the length is 4 minutes. Please arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to flight time to fill out paperwork and ensure on-time flights.
Is there an age limit?
Not at all. Our youngest passenger was 20 days old and the oldest passenger we know of was 102 years old, so if you're in between those ages you are good to go. If you're older or younger, please let us know so we can make note. Children less than 24 months are free.
Can handicapped people take a flight?
Absolutely! One of our biggest thrills is to enable those who cannot hike the back country trails to still enjoy the beauty of our area.
Do you fly over waterfalls?
No, not any longer. The reason is, that most of the waterfalls in the park are very popular destinations for hikers and in order to see them from the helicopter we have to get very low over them. We decided years ago to discontinue this for the hiker's enjoyment of natural quiet, besides the park offers many other awesome views that are virtually untouched by human feet.
Can we take pictures/video from the helicopter during our Scenic Helicopter Tour?
Yes. In fact, it is highly recommended.
Where is Scenic Helicopter Tours located?
We have a ticket office located at 2174 Parkway in Pigeon Forge, between traffic light numbers 1 and 0. Our physical location, however, is at 1949 Winfield Dunn Parkway in Sevierville. You will need to come to the Sevierville location to go on your helicopter tour.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. In one of our aircraft we have a per seat limit of 300lbs.
Can pets come along for the ride?
No. FAA regulations do not allow us to accommodate animals.
